The President of New Edubiase United, Abdul Salam Yakubu, has publicly called on Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku to rule out any plans of seeking a third term in office.
Speaking to Accra-based Asempa FM, Mr Yakubu said he had formally written to the FA demanding to know how many clubs had backed a proposal to extend the presidential mandate beyond its current limit.
“Kurt Okraku has more than two years to finish his second term, and so I believe that eight years is enough for every president to do what he can for our football,” he said.

The New Edubiase President was emphatic in his opposition to the idea of a third term, insisting that leadership change was healthy for the growth of the game.
“I will tell Kurt Okraku just to finish his second term and leave. This third term is not needed in our game. I have made my stand known to all that I don’t support this, and I’ll always stand by it,” he added.
Mr Okraku, who was first elected GFA President in 2019, is currently midway through his second four-year term. His leadership has been marked by efforts to restore stability to Ghana football following the 2018 Anas exposé, as well as mixed results for the national teams on the international stage.
