Effutu group wants fair and even playing field for candidates

The Democratic Outreach Network of Effutu, an affiliate of the National Democratic Congress Party (NDC), has appealed to Constituency, Regional and National Executives of the party, to give a fair and an even playing field for all the four aspiring parliamentary candidates for the party to re-capture the seat.

They stated that the Effutu Constituency would need unity and hard work to wrest the seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) which was also making every effort to retain it.

The Convener of the Network, Mr Nathaniel Papa Akeampong, stated these at a Press Conference at Winneba on Tuesday.

He reiterated their call for unity, and entreated all the candidates to vigorously engage in clean and healthy campaigns.

“Let us bring everyone together to democratically elect a candidate, who truly reflects the choice of the delegates and the people, as well as the future hopes and aspirations, of the Effutu constituency”.

Papa Akeampong urged the local, regional and national leadership of the party, to provide a peaceful democratic process, in the coming primaries in the Effutu Constituency.

This, he said, would help build consensus in unity, and the ability to democratically elect a “sure-to-win candidate for the 2016 Parliamentary election.

Four people have so far declared their intention to contest the primaries at a date yet to be announced by the party.

They are Mr Mike Allan Hammah, immediate past MP for the Area, Mr Eric Don-Arthur, a journalist, Mr Henry Kwaku Bortise Ghartey and Mr Eric Ebo Appiah, both educationists.
