East Akyem: Police hunt for ‘killer’ juju man

Police in the Eastern region have launched a manhunt for a fetish priest who tortured a 50-year-old man to death.

The deceased had been sent to the shrine by his brother who accused him of wizardry.

Okonfo Kwadwo Akafo of Adonkwanta, a farming community in the East Akyem Municipality secretly buried the man after his mysterious death.

Speaking to Starr News, Suhum Police Commander Superintendent Yaya Muchinaru said the suspect and his accomplices are on the run.

“Police have information to the effect that the 50-year-old…was being accused of being a wizard. So he was taken to a fetish priest also called Kwadwo of Adunkwanta.

“During the trial by ordeal, he was subjected to beatings. On the 7th of February this year the deceased became ill in the shrine and died. He was taken ill,” Superintendent Yaya narrated.

He said the body of the deceased is yet to be recovered. “We are in the process of doing that [recovering the body] but there is information that the deceased was buried after his death without police notice”.
