Dumsor over, ‘my honour restored’ – Haruna

The end to the protracted power crisis, according to the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, has restored his honour.

Mr Haruna Iddrisu, prior to the 2008 general elections castigated the Kufuor government at the time, for plunging the country into darkness and said that a future government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which was in opposition at the time, would have “no excuse” to plunge the country into darkness.

In the dying embers of the Mills administration under the NDC, however, the country got plunged into darkness due to an acute power deficit, which persisted into the Mahama administration.

President John Mahama recently told parliament in his State of the Nation Address that the government has been able to “overcome the challenge” by mobilising 800MW of power within the “shortest period” in the history of the country.

Contributing to a debate on the floor of the House about the president’s State of the Nation Address on Thursday March 3, Mr Iddrisu said the President’s ability to fix the power crisis has restored his (Haruna’s) honour.
