Accra, July 6, GNA – Mr Ebenezer Zokta Yevuyibor, President of the Accra-Hohoe-Ho Cooperative Transport Society, has stressed the need for stakeholders in the transport industry to organize periodic training programmes for drivers to help reduce road accidents. He said when equipped with knowledge and skills about the driving profession, drivers would be cautious enough to avoid accidents. Making the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) last Friday, Mr Yevuyibor expressed concern about the recent carnage on the roads and urged colleague drivers to adhere to traffic regulations and pay particular attention to mechanical faults on their vehicles in order to save precious and innocent lives.
Mr Yevuyibor, who is also the Secretary of the Novotel Drivers Welfare Union, asked stakeholders not to only assist drivers to acquire new vehicles, but more so they ought to ensure that drivers were properly trained and equipped with the required skills. He asked drivers to be discipline and courteous to the traveling public in order to win their confidence at all times. He further advised them to guard against all unethical behaviours and acts that tended to soil the good image of their profession.
