Dreams FC and Hearts of Oak played out a 0-0 draw in their Ghana Premier League Matchday 5 meeting at the University of Ghana Stadium on Saturday.
Dreams FC had the better of the chances, especially after half-time, but could not find a way past Hearts goalkeeper Benjamin Asare.
Joel Agbovi came closest to breaking the deadlock when Asare produced a save to keep out his effort. The Hearts goalkeeper was tested again soon afterwards as Razak struck a powerful shot.
Mohammed Shaban later released Razak with an accurately weighted pass, but the forward was unable to make the required contact and another promising opening went unused.
Hearts of Oak also threatened during an open contest. Kwesi Asmah advanced into the attacking area and forced Rahman Osman into action, while Yaw Baafi had a one-on-one opportunity against the Dreams FC goalkeeper but could not convert it.
Chris gave Hearts further concern with a firmly struck free-kick, although the attempt was stopped by the defensive wall.
The result continues a difficult sequence for Hearts of Oak after an encouraging start to the campaign. The Phobians opened with a 4-0 victory against Berekum Chelsea and followed it with a 2-1 away win at Bibiani Gold Stars.
They have since drawn 0-0 with Bechem United, suffered a 1-0 defeat by Karela United and now been held by Dreams FC.
Hearts coach Nebojsa Kapor said his side had failed to execute their attacking moves effectively.
“We made a lot of technical mistakes in the final third in the first half. We tried to fix them after the break, but it didn’t work. Hopefully, we can address these issues before our next match,” Kapor said after the game.
The award for NASCO Man of the Match went to Dreams FC centre-back Kofi Junior Kumah.
For Dreams FC, the stalemate means they are still waiting for their first league victory after five matches. The Still Believe boys had arrived at the fixture following defeats by Berekum Chelsea, Gold Stars and Bechem United.
Their only point before Saturday’s match had come from a draw with Medeama SC. Dreams FC were hoping home advantage would help them change their fortunes, but they again failed to score the goal needed to secure three points.
Hearts of Oak, meanwhile, have now gone three successive matches without scoring. Both clubs will be looking to end their respective runs in their next league fixtures.
