Dormaa Presiding Member worries about deplorable roads

Mr Paul Kwaku Peprah, the Presiding Member for Dormaa West District, has expressed concern about the deplorable nature of roads in the predominantly cocoa growing district and said something had to be done.

He told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Nkrankwanta on Thursday that the situation was affecting economic activities of farmers in the area.

Mr Peprah said food stuffs and cocoa beans were always left to spoil in farms during rainy seasons and the period of bumper harvest.

He said the main Dormaa/Nkrankwanta road was dear to people in the District and therefore appealed to the government to ensure that on-going construction works were completed on schedule.

Mr Peprah commended the government for measures put in place to improving cocoa annual production in the area.

He said the government’s free supply of cocoa seedlings, fertilizers and other agricultural inputs to farmers was in the right direction and added that such incentive packages had motivated the cocoa farmers to expand their farms.
