Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), July 23, GNA- The people of Dormaa-Akwamu in the Dormaa District of Brong Ahafo have expressed concern about chieftaincy disputes in the town and said they were impeding development in the area. They have, therefore, appealed to the Dormaa Traditional Council to resolve them. Nana Owusu Sekyere, an elder of the town, made the appeal at the inauguration of a 153 million cedis block of three classrooms, an office, a store and a KVIP for the Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Primary School. The project was funded under the HIPC Relief Fund.
Nana Sekyere urged factions in the disputes to think of the welfare of the people and “smoke the peace pipe”. Mr Emmanuel Duku, Dormaa District Chief Executive, said the government was committed to quality education and providing classroom blocks and other facilities to enhance effective teaching and learning. He said the Dormaa District Assembly had awarded scholarships to some needy but brilliant students to pursue higher education. Mr Roger Stephen Forkuo, a retired educationist and Chairman of the Dormaa-Akwamu Area Council, expressed gratitude and appreciation to the government for providing them with the structures. He appealed to the government to help rehabilitate the Dormaa-Akwamu Health Centre, which is in a deplorable condition.
