District Manager of OLAM Ghana in court for stealing

The district manager of the Tarkwa branch of OLAM Ghana Limited, Wilberforce Koomson, 39, was on Thursday put before the Tarkwa Circuit Court, charged with stealing.

Koomson, pleaded not guilty to the charge, and the court granted him bail in the sum of 10,000 Ghana Cedis, with three sureties to be justified to re-appear on Wednesday, April 15.

He is accused of stealing 190,750 Ghana Cedis belonging to the Cocoa Buying Company.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court, presided over by Mr. Justice Obeng Asante that, the complainant, Mr Lawrence Essien, is the branch coordinator of OLAM Ghana Limited.

Chief Inspector Ampopnsah said, on December 20, last year, Mr Essien reported to the police that after going through the books of Koomson, he detected that Koomson had embezzled 190,750 Ghana Cedis, belonging to the company.

The prosecution said, this led to the arrest of Koomson, and when the company’s auditor subsequently went through his books, Koomson was found to have stolen 397 bags of dried cocoa.

Chief Inspector Amponsah said, after investigations he was charged with the offence.
