Hohoe, Aug 26, GNA – Drama unfolded at the Hohoe circuit court when a girl who was allegedly defiled proved to the court that she was not under age, compelling the prosecution to withdraw the case.
Victim produced her birth certificate that showed she is 17 years five months old.
Emmanuel Ogun, a Junior High School teacher, was charged with defiling his female student who was supposed to be less than 16 years.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Ben Dadzie told the court that Ogun invited the victim to his house at Gbi-Atabu in the Hohoe Municipality on June 7 and had several bouts of sex before releasing her the following day.
The victim travelled to Afienya where she revealed having had several rounds of sexual intercourse with Ogun.
Ogun told the court that the victim had been his girlfriend since 2008 and insisted she was more than 16 years at the time.
