DCE donates mats to Muslims

Nyinahin (Ash), Sept. 10, GNA – Mrs Theresa Adomako Tawiah, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima-Mponua in the Ashanti Region, has donated 550 mats, worth GH¢3,000, to be distributed to all muslim communities in the district, for prayers during the Euid-Il-Fitr festivities.

At a short presentation ceremony, after a two-hour prayer session to mark the end of their one-month fasting at Nyinahini, the district capital, the DCE admonished Muslims to be guided by peace in all their endeavours, after the fasting period, whiles calling on the youth to do away with situations that could trigger violence.

She said the Muslim religion extols the virtues of peace, which is also crucial to national development.

The DCE also advised them to send their children to school and be prepared to sponsor them to an appreciable level of their education.

“You must also exhibit the spirit of patriotism by attending communal labour and pay your taxes promptly”, she added.

Mallam Gibrine Hamidou, Chief Imam, who received the mats, thanked the DCE and called on Muslims to bury their differences and unite to help build the nation.

Prayers were later said for the nation’s peace and prosperity.
