Nana Asare Bediako, the Atwima-Nwabiagya District Chief Executive (DCE), has appealed to his colleague politicians to do away with intolerance in order to stave off needless tension as the electioneering campaign intensified.
He said they should respect the right of others to hold views and opinions different from theirs.
Again, it was important that they put the peace, security and unity of the nation ahead of individual political ambition and convenience.
He was addressing an Independence Day parade held by school children, and watched by a big crowd, at Nkawie.
Fifty (50) public and private basic and senior high schools (SHS) took part.
Nana Asare Bediako said Ghana had become the toast of the international community for its democracy and it was therefore imperative that nothing was done to destroy this.
“Every effort must be made to prevent anything likely to tarnish the enviable reputation, the nation has built for itself”, he added.
The DCE appealed to all those of the legal voting age to register during the upcoming nationwide biometric voters’ registration.
