Customs head to proceed on indefinite leave

The Commissioner of Customs, Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS), Nii Adjei Okine, has been asked to proceed on leave. Sources at CEPs say Nii Adjei has handed over the day-to-day administration of the service to his deputy in charge of finance and Administration, Mr. Hammond.

The letter according to the sources close to the President’s office was signed by the Acting Chief Director of the Finance ministry Major Tara. Nii Adei is expected to resume on the 3rd of May, this year by which time a substantive Finance ministry will be in place.

The news has been received by a section of the public with mixed feelings; some laud him for bringing discipline to the service and into its operations.

In a related development, reports say the controller and Accountant general MR. Ralph Tuffour has also been ordered to proceed on leave.

However the Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Jake Obestebi says he is not aware of any such directives
