Cristiano Ronaldo has led tributes to Diogo Jota following the shocking news of the Liverpool and Portugal forward’s death in a car accident at the age of 28.

In a deeply emotional message, the Portugal captain struggled to come to terms with the tragedy, recalling how recently they had shared time together in the national team camp.

“It doesn’t make sense,” Ronaldo wrote. “We were just together with the national team. You had just gotten married to your wife.”
