Kuntanase (Ash), Nov 23, GNA – The Kuntanase magistrate court has remanded three people into prison custody for attempted murder. James Frimpong, 35, farmer, Kwame Acheampong, 45, akpeteshie distiller and Anane Dogbatse, 32, farmer, pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on November 25.
Police Chief Inspector Edward Osei told the court, presided over by Mr Agyei Frimpong that many people at Brodekwano near Kuntanase suspected Kofi Yeboah, husband of Madam Elizabeth Adu Twumwaah of having murdered one Yakubu Kramo sometime in April this year even though there had been no evidence to that effect.
He said on October 22, this year at about 2230 hours, while Yeboah and his wife, Madam Adu Twumwaah were resting in their room, there was a gunshot fired through the window of their room and some of the pellets hit the left arm, neck and shoulder of Madam Twumwaah.
Chief Inspector Osei said immediately after the shot, Yeboah gathered courage and opened the window and flashed his torchlight and saw the accused persons running away from the scene.
He said the gunshot woke many people up and so the alarm was raised and some of the people rushed Madam Twumwaah to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
A report was then made to the Kuntanase police who arrested of the accused persons and charged them provisionally with murder. Nov. 23 04
