Court remands four people in custody for stealing

Mankranso (Ash), Nov 10, GNA- The Mankranso magistrate’s court has remanded four people for stealing building materials estimated at 500,000 cedis at Beposo near Mankranso.

Their pleas were not taken and will re-appear on November 11. They are Stephen Kwakye, a mason, Kofi Fofie, Kwadwo Addai and Thomas Opoku, all farmers.

Police Inspector Carl Michael Adjeng told the court that on November 3 Mr Ebenezer Nana Antwi, the Head teacher, detected that materials being used in the construction of the Beposo Local Authority Primary School under the sponsorship of USAID were missing. He said items stolen included 10 bags of cement, four pieces of iron rods and 94 blocks.

Inspector Adjeng said the Head teacher upon a tip-off got to know that Kwakye, the mason working on the project, was one of the culprits. Nana Antwi reported the case to the Mankranso police who arrested Kwakye and during interrogation he mentioned the other three as his accomplices.
