Court remands Chinese for killing Ghanaian

The Chinese man who shot and killed a Ghanaian in Wassa Akropong in the Western Region has been remanded into police custody by a Takoradi District Court.

30-year-old Nana Boah was killed by Jiang Gen Hai amidst a misunderstanding between locals and some Chinese in the area.

In court on Wednesday, 11 October, Police Inspector Bernard Paa Ahinsan prayed His Worship, Thomas K. Ofidie, to remand the accused into police custody so as further investigations could be conducted into the case.

The killing happened during exchanges after the Chinese man gave a local plumber GHS50 instead of an allegedly agreed GHS150 for work done for the Asian.

Kofi Boah, who was invited by the plumber to serve as a witness ended up being shot by the Chinese man.

Locals in the area went on the rampage burning cars and property belonging to the Chinese after the killing.
