Hohoe, Aug 16, GNA – A circuit court in Hohoe has remanded Asafotse Edward Komla Worwornyo, a traditional ruler and herbalist in Gbi-Atabu in the Hohoe Municipality, for allegedly murdering Herbert Akubia.
Also remanded were Augustus Senyo Worwornyo, son of the Asafotse, Daniel Akubia and Felix Akubia nephews of the deceased and Enyonam Akubia niece of the deceased.
The suspects whose pleas were not taken but provisionally charge of murder would re-appear at court on September 7.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Benjamin Dadzie told the court presided over by Mr Edward Apenkwa that Herbert Akubia until his death was litigating over land with Asafotse Worwornyo at the Hohoe High Court.
The prosecution said that each time Asafotse Worwornyo and Senyo Worwornyo visited the disputed land they insulted and threatened the deceased.
ASP Dadzie said that when deceased and his stepson went to farm near the disputed land, Herbert Akubia heard of disturbances from the direction of his teak plantation and went there to find out what was happening.
He did not return and his body was discovered by a search party, after the stepson reported the case to the family.
ASP Dadzie said Herbert Akubia was found with a nylon rope around the neck and tied to a branch of teak tree.
The Prosecution said the legs of the deceased touched the ground with cuts on his head and blood stains all over the body.
ASP Dadzie said Akubia and his nephews and niece were not in talking terms for several years.
The Prosecution said the body of the deceased had been sent to hospital for autopsy and the Police were investigating the murder.
