Court remand driver in custody for abetment of suicide

Sekondi, March 14, GNA – A Sekondi District Magistrate’s Court on Monday remanded Fred Arthur Baidoo, a driver, for abetment of suicide. The plea of the accused was not taken and is to re-appear on March 27. The court decline to grant the accused bail until it receives autopsy report on Jacob Jereon De Ruke, a Dutch national.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Andam Okyere said on February 21, the accused drove De Ruke to Amanful in Takoradi where he bought cocaine for him. He after sniffing the cocaine in his room at the Harbour Hotel, De Ruke started behaving abnormally and was taken to the Takoradi Government Hospital and died. The police are looking for the man the accused bought the cocaine from.
