Accra, March 29, GNA – A 44-year-old plumber, William Sekyi was on Monday sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by an Accra Circuit Court for defiling his 15-year-old daughter.
Sekyi pleaded guilty to incest and the court convicted him accordingly. The accused being escorted to the court cells before being sent to the Nsawam Medium Security Prisons, nearly hit a TV3 Cameraman who took shots= of him.
Sekyi who was in handcuffs, shouted: “You will also have sex with your child.” This attracted laughter from the people at the court premises. The prosecution’s case was that the convict; took custody of the victim when she was one-and-a-half-years old.
The victim was 13 years when his father divorced his second wife; and started defiling her at the close of work.
She could not disclose her ordeal to anyone because the convict threaten= ed not to cater for her education amidst threats and beatings. On February 10, this year when the victim could no longer bear the pain escaped to a relative and narrated her ordeal.
The relative then reported the matter to the Police and a medical was issued to her. After the medical examination, the convict was arrested and after investigations charged with the offence.
