Court jails miner 10 years for robbery

A 30-year old miner, Kwadwo Atta, has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in hard labour for robbery.

He pleaded guilty to the offence.

Prosecuting, Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah, told the Court that in December last year, the convict was arrested for robbery at Asankrangwa in the Amenfi West District of the Western Region.

He said during Police investigations, someone also came to identify Atta as the same person who attacked and robbed a Chinese of his gold estimated at GH¢20,000.00 at a mining site at Oda Kotoamso.

According to the prosecutor, Atta admitted the offence and mentioned three of his accomplices as men, known as Senior Plus, Teacher and Righteous.

He said Atta confessed that they sold the gold for GH¢15,000 in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region and received GH¢3,000.00 as his share.

The Prosecution said a bench warrant had been issued for the arrest of his accomplices.

Meanwhile, the police are investigating the convict for the robbery incident at Assankrangwa
