Court jails labourer for narcotics

An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced Divine Vukpo, a labourer, to 10 years in prison in hard labour for possession of one wrap of wee.

Divine was convicted on his own plea.

Prosecuting Chief Inspector B.O Yeboah told the court that complainant in the case was a Police Corporal stationed at Amanfrom.

He said on October 3, the complainant had information that the convict was peddling in narcotic drugs in his house.

The Prosecution said complainant and other police personnel, then went to the convict’s house and got him arrested and a search conducted on him revealed one wrap of narcotic drug suspected to be Indiana hemp in his pocket.

In his caution statement, the convict admitted ownership of the substance.
