Court Halts 2025 Damba Festival in Bawku Over Security Concerns

The Upper East Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has announced that the Bolgatanga District Court has placed an injunction on the organisation and celebration of the 2025 Damba Festival in Bawku.

The court order, issued on Thursday, September 25, 2025, restrains the president and members of the 2025 Damba Festival Planning Committee from carrying out any activities linked to the event.

According to REGSEC, the move is aimed at safeguarding peace and security in Bawku and its surrounding areas, where tensions have remained high in recent times.

The restriction will remain in effect until further notice.
