Countryside Orphanage receives support from Vodafone women

A group of women in Vodafone Ghana has reached out to inmates at the Country-Side Orphanage in Bawjiase and undertook household chores and house repair works with the 150 children.

The ladies painted the building, read stories, fed, played and carried babies at the orphanage.

The group also donated roofing sheets to enable the orphanage replace the old and leaky roofs of the building, books, paint and paint brushes, nappies, mosquito nets, toiletries and cleaning materials.

Stella Appiah-Nkansah, Human Resource Director at Vodafone Ghana, said the company recognises the role of women in the business.

She said that currently, 80 per cent of the senior management team were women, therefore, Vodafone activities at the orphanage was an opportunity for women in the company to improve the lives of the inmates.

The company recently won an international award, which celebrate firms promoting women workers.
