The Central Regional Commander of the Ghana Police Service (GPS), DCOP Ransford Moses Ninson, has charged police officers in the country to work hard to win the confidence of the public so as to enhance the image of the profession.
“I am reminding you of the police administration’s campaign on the re-affirmation of public confidence in the Ghana Police Service and that the era where the police acted with impunity is over,” he added
DCOP Ninson said this during the closing ceremony of a two-week promotion course for 350 personnel of the Ghana Police Service at Cape Coast on Thursday.
Participants were warned against illegal and over detention of suspects, wrongful arrest and detention, demanding money before bail was granted, deliberate absenteeism in court when called upon to give evidence, extortion of money, meddling in civil cases, among others.
He indicated that the Ghana Police Service is committed to the delivery of planned, democratic, protective and peaceful service with honour and, therefore, urged personnel to be abreast with their responsibilities and exhibit professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
The regional commander called on the participants to continue to perform their duties while they wait patiently for the police administration to confer the promotion on those who would pass the exams.
