Congratulations, Togbe Avaklasu Jerry John Rawlings!

On my behalf and on behalf of the Executives and Members of NDC Virginia, I wish to congratulate you on your appointment as AU’s Special envoy to Somalia, to help bring lasting peace to one of the most trouble spots in the Horn of Africa.
This appointment goes to reemphasis the recognition by the leaders and the people of Africa of your selfless leadership, courage, bravery and dedication to bringing lasting peace to all corners of Africa.
We know this is a herculean task even so, that is why no other than you have being selected for this position. With your track record, we have no doubt that you will succeed, no matter how difficult and unachievable this task may seem. From the depths you took Ghana from in the late 1970s to the heights Ghana has attained now being the Gateway to Africa, the Beacon of African Democracy and an African Success Story, there is no wonder why you were selected.
With your experience and relentless efforts in facilitating peace in Library, Sierra Leone, Cote D’Ivoire etc., it is evident that you are the right person for the job and God willing, lasting peace shall return to Somalia after so many years of unrest.
We also thank President Mills and his Government for their willingness and pledge of support to Fmr President Rawlings in his new capacity as AU’s eminent personality so as he may succeed in his bid to bring peace and tranquility to the Horn of Africa.
We therefore implore all patriots and peace loving people of Ghana and hence Africa in general to continue to pray for God’s guidance, direction and protection to Fmr President Rawlings, his family and staff to succeed in this difficult assignment; so peace may prevail in all corners of Africa.
President Rawlings, may the good Lord be with you!
Daniel Dotse,
Chairman NDC Virginia
