Confusion at Kumasi sallah

There was confusion over the sitting place of the representative of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu ll, during yesterday’s Eid Ul Fitr celebration at the Central Mosque in Kumasi.

Baffuor Asabre Kogyawoasu, the Nsumankwahene, who was representing the Asantehene at the function, got infuriated when he was reportedly told by a presidential security staff to sit on the second row on the dais.

The Nsumankwahene, who was accompanied by a retinue of chiefs, regarded the order as ‘insulting’ so he quickly left the dais angrily.

It took the timely intervention of the MP for Asawase, Hon. Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, and some distinguished Muslim elders to get the visibly angry Nsumankwahene to return to the dais.

The unfortunate incident occurred at the Kumasi Central Mosque during the Eid Ul Fitr celebration.

It occurred before the arrival of President Mahama and his delegation at the venue.

According to eye witnesses, the President’s security personnel were later seen pleading with the Nsumankwahene for forgiveness.
