Committee set up to monitor load shedding

A committee has been set up to ensure the strict adherence to the latest load shedding timetable published by the Electricity Company of Ghana, (ECG).

The committee consists of representatives from ECG, Ghana Grid Company (GRDICo) and Volta River Authority (VRA).

Isaac Kirk Coffie, Chief Executive Officer of VRA in an interview with TV3 said the committee would also ensure that households are not short-changed.

The Power rationing in the country has increased in the last couple of months after the ECG decided to shed almost 450 megawatts of power.

A load shedding guide was made available for the first time for industries last Monday.

In the new timetable the amount of power supplied to mining industries in the country would also be cut by 25 percent.

According to the ECG, the decision was taken with the mining companies.
