Coke saga: Passengers, Crew blew the whistle on Nayele

It is emerging that some passengers on the flight that ferried Nayele Ametefeh – the Ghanaian lady arrested with 12.5 kilos of cocaine in London – were those who blew the whistle on her.

The passengers, according to Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch Newspaper, Ben Ephson, alerted the flight crew about Ametefeh’s suspicious luggage, after the narcotic consignment was handed to her in the plane by an accomplice.

Ephson told STARR NEWS’ Kweku Obeng Adjei in an interview on Thursday that intelligence information available to him indicates that Ametefeh’s attempt to lighten up the hefty narcotic package, by putting some amount of it in her handbag so that the consignment fits into the luggage compartment in the plane, drew attention to her from other passengers.

The Crew then informed UK authorities at Heathrow Airport leading to her arrest after the plane touched down.

Ametefeh, according to Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Hanna Tetteh, has told consular officers at the Ghana High Commission in London that she thought she was conveying gold, not cocaine.

She has refused to name her accomplices and expressed readiness to serve time for her crime. The preliminary hearing of the case has been scheduled for Thursday November 27, 2014 at the Crown Court at Isleworth. She faces a minimum of 10 years in jail if found guilty.
