Civil Servants call of impending strike

Accra, Aug. 13, GNA 96 The Civil Servants Association (CSA) has called off its impending strike from Tuesday August 15 indefinitely, a statement jointly signed by Mr. Smart Y. A. Chigabatia and Mr. Robertson Akwei Allotey, Executive Secretary and President respectively in Accra, said.

This followed a series of meetings between the Government and Representatives of the Association in Accra on Sunday. According to the statement the two sides agreed that all distortions in salaries of Civil Servants would be removed and placements corrected as from 1st October, while the date for implementation would be 1st November, this year.

A Technical Sub-Committee had been set up to work out the modalities for the implementation of the agreement, it stated and directed that all red bands and flags hoisted at Government buildings and offices should be removed.

The Association expressed its gratitude to President John Agyekum Kufuor for his intervention and Civil Servants for their patience, support and forbearance.
