Cincinnati boiling, Ghanafest is here!

The fifth Ghana annual Ghana Fest of The Greater Cincinnati Metro Area is here with us once more. For the fifth consecutive time, the city of Cincinnati and its metro area will be set ablaze on Saturday August 23rd, from 4pm – 9pm for this cultural event. The venue is the prestigious compound of the ICFC Assemblies of God Church on 1357 Hicks Boulevard in Fairfield, a suburb of Cincinnati. It is brought to you by courtesy of Ghanaian Men’s Club and the Ghana Fest Council. This year’s event is under the theme, uniting for progress, and the organizing committee cordially invites everybody of Ghanaian descent, Africans and in fact all friends of Ghana to a taste of Ghanaian culture, dance and tradition. The aim is to promote our rich culture and heritage to the rest of the world, and to teach our children born in diaspora to appreciate their culture, reminding them of where they came from. There will be public displays of traditional dance and drumming, fashion show, durbar of chiefs, games such as ludo, oware, dame (draught) ampe and raffle draws with prizes to be won. Nana Senti Nyame 1, the chief of the Ghanaian Community of Cincinnati will sit in state to receive homage from his people. A competition for the best dancers of highlife, adowa, azonto and kete will be held with prizes to be won. Many important dignitaries have been invited to grace the occasion. As usual, music will be provided by talented DJ Koolman and his Afrique Soundz of Cincinnati. Not missing in action will be the numerous vendors who are prepared to show case their wares. Food for thought is the name given to the assortment of the diverse Ghanaian foods that will be on display. Come meet old friends and make new ones.
