Evangelist Kenneth Gyan-Kesse of the Bomso Church of Christ, has asked the congregation to reconsider efforts to change the structures of the church.
He said the church is at a crossroad and “the decision taken today will determine the future of the church whether into apostasy or staying with the truth of the gospel that leads to external life”.
Evangelist Gyan-Kesse gave the advice at the first seminar of the Southern Institute of Biblical Studies for Church of Christ leaders and hosted by the Sapeiman branch of the church, near Amasaman.
The seminar was to sensitise the leadership about an amended constitution for the Church and the foreseeable harm that it would cause.
It was attended by about 120 leaders from the regions.
Evangelist Gyan-Kesse spoke on the theme: “Remove Not The Ancient Landmarks – Proverb 22:28,” and on the topic: “Does The National Registration of Churches of Christ Affect Congregational Autonomy?”
He said the amended constitution would come up with a Board of Trustees which comprises seven elected members and 10 appointed that would run the general affairs of the various branches of the church.
Evangelist Gyan-Kesse asked the church leaders to be guided by history in order not to repeat mistakes done by past leaders which brought about problems.
Evangelist Seth Osae-Larbi, Leader of the host church told Ghana News Agency that the seminar was to take participants through the structures of the church and the roles they play.
The church was started in Ghana in 1951 and has more than 3,000 branches across the country.
