Christians urged to be wary of false prophets

Koforidua, May 10, GNA – The Reverend Dr JOY Mante, Chairman of the Akuapem Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, has said people should be wary of men of God who claim to have powers to change everything.

He said women in particular who always fall prey to false prophets should not expose themselves as to be carried away from their faith.

The Rev Dr Mante, who was addressing the choir union conference of the presbytery at the Calvary Church, said the pursuit for signs and wonders was breeding more problems in the society than goodness.

He urged the choristers, whom he described as very important component of the church, to lead righteous and acceptable lifestyles to enhance the image of the church and its worship.

The Reverend Barima Appiah Dankwa, the District

Minister, urged the choristers to check their lifestyles so that

their singing would draw people’s attention to God. The New Juaben Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Alex

Asamoah, said in a speech read on his behalf that government

was prepared to partner with the church for development,

especially in the area of education. Mr Asamoah said the contribution of the Presbyterian

Church to education was enormous and that most of the basic

schools that excelled in the Basic Education Certificate

Examination in the municipality were Presbyterian schools. He called on the church to strengthen measures to bring

back the proverbial “Presbyterian discipline” that seemed to

be fading away to check indiscipline.
