Chief gunned down at Nkonya

A sub-chief at Nkonya Ahenkro in the Volta region Nana Kwame Agyei has been gunned down by an unknown assailant.

The 65-year-old man, according to Starr News sources was shot and killed on his farm about 8am Monday.

It is unclear whether the latest killing is in connection with the protracted land disputes between Nkonya and Alavanyo.

The police have launched investigations into the case.

According to Starr News’ Volta regional correspondent Lambert Atsivor, the police in the area are in talks with elders of Ahenkro to agree on sending the body to the morgue for autopsy as the elders of the town are insisting on burying the man, who is said to be an elder of the traditional area.

The killing brings to two the number of persons murdered in a similar fashion at Nkonya this year. In February this year, a 47-year-old Peter Addo was also shot in his farm.
