The United Cadres Front (UCF) has urged the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region to act quickly to mend cracks and restore calm to the party.
It said the party could simply not afford to travel the route of self-destruction by engaging needless internal wrangling.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the Regional Chairman of the Executive Committee of the UCF, Nana Yaw Kwabia, in Kumasi.
The cadres reminded members and supporters to be mindful of their actions and avoid doing anything that could undermine the unity of the party or distract it from the target of one million votes, it had set to achieve in Ashanti.
The statement asked that they put the general good of the NDC ahead of any other interest and consideration.
It advised that they stood together, stayed loyal and worked hard with unity of purpose to substantially increase the party’s share of votes in the Region, the stronghold of political opposition.
“We believe that when all stakeholders – cadres, party executive (past and present), former parliamentary candidates and members of parliament, district chief executives, founding fathers, patrons and council of elders are brought on board, we could make this happen.”
The cadres noted that a lot of development achievements had been made by the Mahama Administration and said the expectation that the party faithful would focus energy and effort on helping voters to appreciate the good work done.
The UCF pledged its determination to ensure that the party was united and became more vibrant to retain President John Dramani Mahama in power in 2016.
