Ms. Anna Bossman, Head of Alliance Fran?aise, Africa and India Ocean, has says there is the need for Ghanaians to learn French in addition to English. She stressed that this would help Ghanaians transact business almost everywhere in the world without difficulty.
Bilingualism she said, would also improve Ghana’s bid to foster a closer relationship with her neighbours who are all French speaking. “If we can communicate effectively and promote friendship, then there is the need for citizens of Ghana to promote the learning and speaking of French language in the country,” she said.
Ms Anna Bossman, who also the President of Alliance Fran?aise Schools, Ghana, was opening an exhibition for this year’s students of the institute in Accra last week. The exhibition is to let people know more about what Alliance Fran?aise is doing in the world.
The school was established in 1883 in Paris, to promote the language and culture of French. It was introduced in Ghana in 1957 and has its network extended to 138 countries.
Alliance Fran?aise Ghana, has established five branches in the country, in Accra, Tema, Cape Coast, Kumasi and Takoradi.
Ms. Bossman said students who excel in their studies have the opportunity of gaining scholarships to further their education or work with companies in any of the Francophone countries.
