Bawa-Rock Limited has provided GH¢700,000 in financial assistance to eight poultry farmers in the Greater Accra Region whose businesses were badly affected by the floods in Accra on 29 June 2026.
The support was presented to the farmers at Roman Ridge in Accra as part of the Obuasi-based gold trading and mining company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
Bawa-Rock Limited said the initiative was intended to assist individuals and businesses facing unexpected difficulties. Its Corporate and Social Responsibility Manager, Eric Addae Boateng, said the company remained committed to helping affected farmers rebuild and restore their operations.
He said the value of the assistance had been determined with the farmers’ losses in mind, including birds, working capital, farm infrastructure and other valuables destroyed by the floods.
Mr Addae Boateng added that Bawa-Rock Limited would continue to support business owners dealing with serious challenges, including the effects of natural disasters.
The Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional Association of Poultry Farmers, Mr Titus Frederick Lutterodt, praised the company for its continued support and generosity.
He said the intervention had offered renewed hope to farmers who had suffered major losses during the floods.
“Your kindness came at a moment when many of us [poultry farmers] have lost not only the birds and the farm structures but also our means of livelihood and hope for the future.
“The compensation has gone a long way in helping us begin the process of recovering our buildings and farms,” Mr Lutterodt said.
Mr Shak Al-Mohammed of Shak Farms said he was “overwhelmed” that Bawa-Rock Limited had chosen to support the farmers while many were facing uncertainty and despair.
He thanked the company on behalf of the affected farmers, saying that without the assistance their problems would have become more severe and restarting their businesses would have been extremely difficult.
Madam Abena Kyei, who has worked in poultry and piggery farming since 1995, said she had experienced several flooding disasters without receiving outside assistance.
The June floods destroyed tens of thousands of her birds, leaving her so discouraged that she considered leaving the business.
“I have my partners around here; I was so much discouraged, and we seriously gave up. My joy started arousing when I heard of Bawa-Rock,” she said.
The company had previously provided support to more than 300 traders whose businesses were severely damaged by the 5 September Obuasi Town Hall fire.
That package was worth GH¢1.5 million and included industrial sewing machines supplied as start-up kits to help the traders move forward.
Bawa-Rock Ltd is an official aggregator for the GoldBod, a wholly Ghanaian-owned company focused on creating lasting value through transparency, compliance and community impact.
