Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Mrs Matilda Asante-Asiedu, has called on banks to look beyond regulatory compliance and place cyber resilience at the heart of their leadership priorities.
She said stronger cooperation across the industry, alongside the effective implementation of the Cyber and Information Security Directive (CISD) 2026, would be essential to improving cybersecurity in Ghana’s banking sector.

The workshop was part of a wider industry-wide fraud awareness initiative aimed at tackling fraud through stronger leadership, ethical conduct and sound corporate governance.
Organisers said the programme recognised the importance of setting the right tone at the top, with boards and senior leaders expected to play a central role in promoting responsible practices and protecting financial institutions from cyber and information-security risks.
The interactive session included a dedicated question-and-answer segment, giving participants the opportunity to examine emerging governance challenges facing the banking sector and exchange views on how those issues should be addressed.
In her address, Mrs Asante-Asiedu said: “There is a need to move beyond compliance and make cyber resilience a core leadership priority, supported by stronger collaboration and effective implementation of the Cyber and Information Security Directive (CISD) 2026.”
