Banka selected for community SHS project

Banka, a predominantly farming community in the Asante-Akim South District, has been selected to benefit from the construction of one of the 200 new Senior High School (SHS) in fulfilment of the government’s pledge to enhance access to education.

The project has been awarded to a construction company and all is set for work on the building project to start.

Mr. Ernest Owusu, an Official of the Education Ministry, on Tuesday, handed over the 20-acre land released by the community for the project to the contractors at a ceremony.

He called for cooperation and support of the people to ensure its smooth completion.

He also entreated the contractors to ensure that they engaged the local people to provide labour on the project.

Mr. De-graft Fokuo, the District Chief Executive (DCE), commended the chiefs and people for readily making land available and asked that they continued to show interest and ownership of the school.

He gave the assurance that the Assembly would play its expected part “to make it a dream come true.”

Nana Owusu Acheampong, the youth chief, said they were grateful to the government for siting the project there.

Mr. Nicholas Frimpong Boateng, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the construction company, pledged quality job and to work within timelines.
