Ban On Funerals in Accra

There will be a ban on funerals and transportation of dead bodies within the Ga State from January 22-28, 2007. There will be ban on trading and commercial activities within the Ga State on Saturday January 27, 2007. Thee directives were part of a press release by the Ga Traditional Council.

Part of the press release states: Ban on funerals and transportation of dead bodies within the Ga State will be effective from January 22 to 28, 2007. Mortuaries are not to release dead bodies during this period. Ban on trading and commercial activities within the Ga State will be effective only on Saturday January 27.

The Accra and Tema Metropolitan and Ga East and Ga West District Assemblies are cooperating with the Council in the enforcement of these directives.
