A member of pressure group, CitizenGhana Movement, Dr Esi Ansah, has said the resignation of Transport Minister, Dzifa Attivor, over the GHS3.6 million bus branding scandal, does not put the matter to rest.
Even though the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has directed the Attorney General to retrieve an amount of GHS 1.9 million from Smarttys Productions, the private firm, which got the contract to brand the 116 intra-city government buses, Dr Ansah said Thursday that more questions remain unanswered. For instance, she said there is the need to get to the bottom of how and who inflated the contract sum.
“Where did the problem come from? When you trace the procurement process, where were the numbers inflated? Let us deal with that.
“People may say the Minister has resigned, but it still doesn’t answer the questions that some of us may have.
“I really, honestly, wonder, which percentage of the scandals we have heard came through sole-sourcing,” she said on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Thursday 24 December 2015.
The scandal was first brought to light by Minority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, who raised concerns about the branding budget in Parliament.
