Association disassociates itself from youth demonstration

The Osu Youth Association, has disassociated itself from a recent so-called youth demonstration against Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, Osu Mantse and President of the Traditional Council.

Nana Nkosua Mingle, Executive Secretary of the Association who made the disclosure at a news conference on Thursday at Osu said the association is the only registered one.

He said those who took part the demonstration were not true youth of Osu and were not card bearing members of the association.

Nana Mingle said the seven years reign of Nii Kinka Dowuona have brought a lot of achievements to the people Osu.

He mentioned some of the achievement as the rehabilitation and refurbishment of the palace, establishment of welfare and scholarship fund to support needy students, acquisition of a 28-seater bus for the stool, attainment of paramountcy status, and the creation of traditional council.

Nana Mingle said Nii Kinka Dowuona is serving on a number of committees at both Regional and National House of Chiefs.

“With these achievements… it is very prudent on the part of our youth association to give Nii Kinka Dowuona all the needed support for him to do more. We are poised to support a development-oriented Chief who will promote the welfare of his people.”
