Asiedu Nketia: I’ve lost all trust in Akufo-Addo

General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has said the recent “lies” peddled by Nana Akufo-Addo has caused him to lose any trust he had in the three-time flagbearer of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Mr Asiedu Nketia told Adom TV’s breakfast programme ‘Badwam’ on Wednesday, October 21, 2015, that Mr Akufo-Addo’s recent allegation in Amsterdam that the Mahama administration spent US$10 million on presidential diaries was one of the lowest points in his entire political career.

Presidential staffers, Stan Dogbe and Dr Clement Apaak, as well as Deputy Communications Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu, have all denied the allegation.

“Nana Addo needs serious advice,” Mr Asiedu Nketia told host Kwadwo Asare-Baffour Acheampong (KABA) in the interview, adding: “A man above 70 years, and nearing his grave should not be telling blatant lies.”

Also rebutting Mr Akufo-Addo’s warning to the international community that Ghana’s 2016 general elections risked being rigged by the incumbent party, Mr Asiedu Nketia said he no more puts premium on anything the opposition leader says, since he has become a serial liar.

He said as a son of a former President, and a politician, who has had an astute career, it was unbecoming of the former Attorney General and ex-legislator to keep telling plain lies in the name of politics.

According to Mr Asiedu Nketia, Mr Akufo-Addo’s rigging claim is not tenable, since the biometric voting process will make any rigging attempt impossible.
