Asantehene hails tolerance among Christians, Muslims

Otumfuo Osie Tutu II, the Asantehene, has hailed the admirable level of tolerance, respect and good understanding existing between the nation’s two dominant religions – Christianity and Islam, and urged that this is protected.

He said it was important for Christians and Muslims to continue to relate well and work together to assure the society of continued peace.

The Asantehene said this at an induction service held for the General Overseer of the True Faith Church of Ghana, Senior Pastor John Owusu Achiaw, at Nketia in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District.

He said the expectation was that all as children of God would accept to live in peace and complete harmony.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu reminded the church to focus on helping to fight poverty, diseases and other human indignities, pointing out that the welfare and general good of the people must be central to everything it did.

It must go to every length to soothe the pain and bring some comfort to the weak, the poor and the vulnerable, he added.

The Asantehene counseled the General Overseer to be transparent and accountable to the members and said that was the way to get them behind his vision for the church.

Senior Pastors Owusu Achiaw asked Christians to become good example to rest of the society by leading pious and decent lives.

They should mirror Christ-like qualities of love, modesty and humility, he said.

He called for intensification of the church’s evangelism to win more converts.
