Asante-Akim North finally confirms DCE

The Asante-Akim North District Assembly has endorsed Mr. Daniel Osei as the District Chief Executive (DCE) at a special meeting held at Agogo.

He polled 29 out of the 31 votes cast to meet the mandatory two-thirds majority needed to be confirmed.

This came barely five days after he failed to get the needed votes.

The event was, however, not without drama. Just before the voting started, seven government appointees of the assembly, in a surprise move, were replaced and that appeared to have done the trick, breaking the deadlock.

Anxious supporters of Mr. Osei, who had thronged the place burst into jubilation immediately after the vote count and declaration of the results.

Mr Osei thanked the assembly members for their support and pledged to bring progress to the area and raise the living standards of the people.

He called for unity, mutual understanding and teamwork to tackle the development challenges of the district, which is among the newly created districts.
