Asante-Akim Central rejects George Kyei Baffour

The Asante-Akim Central Municipal Assembly has voted to reject the nomination of Mr. George Baffour Kyei as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).

He managed to poll 17 votes out of the 36 cast, while 18 of the members voted no. There was one rejected ballot.

The election was supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC) and there to observe things were the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Simon Osei-Mensah, and his Deputy, Madam Elizabeth Agyemang.

Addressing the members later, Mrs. Agyemang appealed to them to overcome their differences and to give their backing to Mr. Kyei, if re-nominated by the President.
