Dormaa-Ahenkro, Dec 10, GNA – A circuit court at Dormaa Ahenkro has sentenced Kwame Braimah, an apprentice mechanic, to four years imprisonment in hard labour for stealing two car batteries valued at one million cedis.
Inspector Kofi Owusu Takyi told the court that on December five, a driver went to start a KIA truck belonging to the Presbyterian Church at the Mission House at Dormaa-Ahenkro but realize that both batteries had been removed.
He said one Mr Adu Kofi, who helped the Church to buy the vehicle, was informed and he alerted all car battery dealers in the area about the stolen batteries.
Inspector Takyi said the next day someone hinted a member of the Community Watch Committee at Yawkrom of spotting the accused discharging two car batteries from the booth of a TICO taxi the previous day. The accused was handed over to military personnel at the Kofi-Badukrom border post where he admitted having stolen the batteries. The soldiers later brought him to the police at Dormaa Ahenkro.
