Alleged campus robber arrested

A circuit court in Cape Coast on Thursday remanded into prison custody 40-year-old unemployed Kwame Noah for allegedly terrorizing and robbing students and people living in and around the University of Cape Coast(UCC) campus.

Noah, who pleaded not guilty to robbery, would be re-arraigned on Friday, November 13.

Chief Inspector Francis Ockom told the court that Noah usually wore a mask and operated around the botanical gardens and behind the new lecture theatre area.

He alleged that on September 4 a female student was robbed of her Sony Ericsson mobile phone valued at GH¢350.00 and GH¢10.00.

On September 27, Noah robbed a male student of his mobile phone and GH¢250.00 after a fierce struggle during which the mask was pulled from Noah’s face.

Last week Tuesday, Noah again robbed another female student of her phone valued at GH¢120.00 and she reported it to the campus police who arrested him.

Chief Inspector Ockom said the male student who struggled with Noah upon hearing of his arrest went to the station and identified him.
