Akuapem North Assembly supports disaster victims

The Akuapem North Municipal Assembly has donated relief items worth GHC 20,800, to the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), to support victims of rainstorm disasters in the area.

The items included 100 bags of cement and 30 packets of roofing sheets

Presenting them, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr George Opare-Addo, said over 100 households at Adukrom, Obosomase, Amanokrom, Nkyenua, Kwao-Darko, and other communities, were affected by rainstorm last month, which resulted in the collapse of buildings and ripping of roofs.

He said the gesture was to support the displaced people to be able to re-roof their buildings, and also help those whose houses collapsed, to put up new ones.

The MCE advised the beneficiaries to use the items to construct good buildings that would stand the test of time, adding that the Assembly would also put expertise at their disposal to avert such occurrence in future.
