Ahanta West District Assembly endorses DCE

Agona Nkwanta (W/R), Aug.8, GNA-The Ahanta West District Assembly on Monday confirmed Mr. Joseph Dofoyenah, the former Presiding Member of the assembly, as the District Chief Executive (DCE). In an election supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC), 50 members of the assembly voted in favour of Mr. Dofoyenah’s nomination by the President while two votes went against him. The DCE, who is 44 years old, was an Agriculture Science teacher at the Baidoo Bonsoe Senior High Technical School at Agona Nkwanta. Mr. Paul Evans Aidoo, the Western Regional Minister, who swore-in Mr. Dofoyenah, advised him to work cordially with elected and appointed members of the assembly.

He urged him to co-operate and respect traditional authorities, members of the assembly and heads of departments. Mr. Aidoo asked the DCE to remain politically neutral and to work with all political parties to develop the district. In his acceptance speech, Mr. Dofoyenah thanked the assembly for voting overwhelmingly for him. He promised to work diligently to ensure steady development of the district. Babrima Diaw Quaicoe 111, Chief of Adjua and Mr.Anthony Kofi Manford were sworn-in as appointed members of the assembly.
